Opened in mid 2013, Machenje Fishing Lodge sits nestled on the banks of the Zambezi River - with world-class sport-fishing literally within casting distance.
But Machenje is about more than just fishing and enjoying nature - we offer the lodge for private booking, allowing you and your guests to enjoy the privacy of this unique lodge and its pristine riverside setting.
Conveniently located 20km upstream from the Kazungula Ferry border crossing between Zambia and Botswana, the lodge is close to the meeting point of four countries – Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe – and offers easy access to all four countries.
Set alongside the tranquil and unspoiled fishing waters of the Upper Zambezi, the Lodge is the product of an innovative partnership between the local community, an experienced local tourism operator and an international conservation organisation, formed to enhance conservation in a region that boasts some of the largest herds of elephant on the African continent. The Lodge lies on the southern edge of the Sekute Community Conservation Area, a key part of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area.

The larger open plan thatched central lodge area comprises of relaxation, bar and dining areas, and adjoining plunge and relaxation pools.
The lodge is only 100 km from Livingstone, the adventure and tourism capital of Zambia. As well as visiting the Victoria Falls themselves, guests can choose from a wide variety of activities, including sunset river cruises on the Zambezi above the falls, game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park which runs along the riverside (and includes the chance to see the rare white rhino), helicopter or microlight flights above the Falls and white-water rafting (seasonal) or bungee jumping from the more adventurous.
